Giving Hearts Day

Steady 'Hands' in Surgery

Unity Medical Center’s new DaVinci surgical robot is controlled by skilled general surgeon Dr. Michael Bittles, providing a steady “hand” in the operating room.

The DaVinci robot operates on any regular operating table, but there is a special table that pairs with the robot to reposition the patient during procedures. During Giving Hearts Day 2024, over 200 donors helped raise $31,000 toward the table.

Last Year's Impact

Thank you to the 212 donors who supported the Unity Medical Center Foundation during Giving Hearts Day 2023. These funds will go toward expanding Cardiac Rehab at Unity Medical Center and the addition of Pulmonary Rehab to improve lung function, reduce symptom severity and improve quality of life for those suffering with chronic lung diseases like COPD and asthma.

My husband's doctor wanted him to do Pulmonary Rehab, but it was in Grand Forks and he was too weak to make that trip. He has since passed away, but I am happy that others can get this rehab at UMC.
